The Children

As an au pair, you spend a lot of time with the family's children. The host families have children of all ages, from infants to school-aged. Some families have just one child, but many have two or more. The children are your most important responsibility when you are an au pair. You'll learn about who they are, what they like and don't like, and how their way of life may differ from yours. As you help the kids with homework or play games after school, chat over eggs at breakfast or read their favorite bedtime story, you find out a lot about what growing up in Europe is like. And while the work can be challenging, it's also a ton of fun!
